‘Humiliated’ Man Died of Emotional Distress After Being Forced to Clean Soiled Walgreens Bathroom in Florida: Lawsuit

Fernando’s family is suing for an unspecified amount, but, according to court documents, included an offer to settle for $500,000. Fernando’s family is suing, saying the incident directly caused his death. A 69-year-old man died after being forced to clean the Walgreens bathroom in Florida, that employees had accused him of soiling, his family claims in court papers obtained by television station WFTV in Orlando. “We need to know how cleaning a bathroom led to a death, it’s just an allegation with no specificity.”

According to the lawsuit, which moved from state to federal court Monday, Maria Elizarraras said that her husband, Fernando Elizarraras,  died as a result of the emotional distress caused by his trip to the Walgreens on Landstar Boulevard in Orlando on Oct. But a legal expert told WFTV the case will be difficult to prove – especially since the court papers don’t specify how much time elapsed between the trip to Walgreens and Elizarraras’ death. In the lawsuit, Elizarraras stated that Walgreens workers stopped the 69-year-old on his way out of the store after using the bathroom, and physically forced him back to the restroom, saying, “You left a mess, (expletive) all over the bathroom.”
Fernando wasn’t allowed to leave for 20 minutes until he had mopped and cleaned the bathroom, causing him to be “humiliated, disgraced and injured in his feelings, emotionally and mentally,” according to the lawsuit. “In all my years in the court system, this is new to me, never seen it,” legal analyst Belvin Perry told the TV station. 28.538335

Federal Judge Ends Election Recount in Michigan

Jill Stein’s 1% temper tantrum cost Michigan taxpayers millions of dollars and would have cost them additional millions of dollars if not for the actions of President-elect Trump, the Michigan Republican Party, and Attorney General Bill Schuette.”
Stein has spearheaded a recount effort in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — three battleground states where Donald Trump narrowly defeated Hillary Clinton. On a Facebook live chat following the Michigan ruling, Stein said “this fight is the right one and it’s only just begun.” She said that her team would be huddling with their attorneys to “figure out the best course forward.”
Stein can file an appeal of the latest ruling with the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. A recount of ballots cast in Oakland County, Michigan from the 2016 US presidential race takes place at the Oakland County Schools building on December 5, 2016 in Waterford, Michigan. 44.314844

Stein’s campaign, who withdrew a recount request in a Pennsylvania state court, filed a lawsuit in federal court Monday morning seeking a statewide recount there. US District Judge Mark Goldsmith issued the order late Wednesday — dissolving a previous temporary restraining order against the Board of Elections that allowed the recount to continue. In federal court, Stein counter-argued this was a “distorted interpretation” of the law and that it was within her constitutional right to have the recount. Trump supporters in Wisconsin have unsuccessfully tried to stop the recount in progress there. “It’s not over yet,” Stein pledged. That court concluded Stein was not an aggrieved party since she had no reasonable chance of winning by virtue of the recount. Goldsmith agreed that the issues Stein raised — fraud and mistakes — were “serious,” but said there was no evidence of such violations. In her motion, Stein had argued against a Tuesday ruling by the State of Michigan Court of Appeals in favor of stopping the recount. Instead, they present speculative claims going to the vulnerability of the voting machinery — but not actual injury,” read Goldsmith’s order. A federal judge has ordered Michigan’s Board of Elections to stop the state’s electoral recount. Goldsmith’s latest opinion effectively denies Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein’s request to block the Board of Elections from halting the recount. “A recount as an audit of the election,” Goldsmith concluded, “has never been endorsed by any court.”
Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel declared the order a victory for voters of Michigan. “The courts have affirmed the stance the campaign has maintained from day one: Jill Stein, who received only 1.07% of the vote in Michigan, is not legally entitled to hijack the will of voters and drag them into an arduous and expensive publicity stunt. “Rather, Plaintiffs’ asserted right to a recount is just a restatement of her right to participate in a fair election, free from tampering or mistake. Stein has raised nearly $7 million to fund the recount efforts, following news that security experts alerted Clinton’s campaign to the possibility of hacks in key counties in those states.

Racial Slur Left in Snow at Idaho Black History Museum

It’ll take more than a slur in the snow to stop a museum in Idaho from its mission. By dragging her shoes along the ground, Kirsten Furlong drew a giant heart in the museum’s front yard. “There’s a lot more people who don’t agree with that message, so those people have to act.”
Thompson said the fact that people continue to leave racial slurs proves that the museum’s stated mission — to build bridges between cultures — is still valid. A giant heart

Phillip Thompson, the museum’s board president and executive director, said he saw it Wednesday morning. “The hate just spreads. In 2002, vandals drew a swastika on the building’s doors. That’s why we have to stop it and take action,” she said. Someone wrote the N-word in the snow on top of a storage unit at the Idaho Black History Museum. One museum supporter, repulsed by the slur, left a message of her own in the snow. “What they did was pointless (given how cold it is).”
Thompson’s not making a police report, reasoning the cops wouldn’t be able to do anything about it and that “they have much more important things to do.”
Also, this isn’t the first time the facility’s been hit by hate. “People want to (act) like this doesn’t exist, or act in such a way that we’re past this,” he said.
